Food for Hope Announces Opening of Northglenn High School Food Bank!
41,000 children in Adams County are considered food insecure.
25% of the homeless population in Adams County is made up of children 0-17
Food for Hope along with the Senior Class 2020 of Northglenn High School have worked together to open the first official High School Food Bank in Adams County. Wednesday, 8/28/2019, the food bank (across from the Counseling Office inside NGHS) officially opens from 11:30am-1:30pm. The food bank will be open every Wednesday 11:30am-1:30pm during the school year for children at NGHS to shop for themselves and their family. It will also be available to families in need who come to the Adams 12 Family Resource office, which is located next door to Northglenn High .
The Northglenn High School Food Bank contains many kinds of easy to prepare foods. Items include: canned vegetables, canned fruits, canned proteins, grains and snacks/misc. “A client choice food bank is the ideal way to serve local students. This program allows us to expand the type of foods we have typically used in our weekly Elementary Food Bag Program now available at 9 Adams County Schools. The new food bank will also provide snacks similar to those we distribute in our School Fuel Program that benefits 2 area high schools and 3 new elementary schools this year”, stated Emily Stromquist, Director of Food for Hope. All programs described will start after Labor Day and continue through the school year. Inside of the Food Bank there is also a Precious Child Boutique, school supplies, and NGH school spirit wear.
