"Food for Hope Attacks Student Hunger"

Check out the article about our program published today in the Northglenn/Thornton Sentinel!

Also, join us in celebrating a 2nd spectacular school year serving the Adams 12 Five Star school district.  We distributed 9,064 bags of food for children to take home on the weekends and 3,000 breakfasts to high school students needing some nourishment upon arriving at school.

THANK YOU to our volunteers and supporters for making these accomplishments possible.

Rungry 5K Results

Despite the chilly weather, we had a great crowd of people come from our community to participate in our 2nd Annual Rungry 5K.  The smiles and good attitudes from our participants made it an encouraging morning all around!  Congratulations to Lenny Archuleta & Kristy White for being our overall male and female top finishers.

Denver Post Article on Food for Hope

The Denver Post wrote an article about the current status of our program.  Read it HERE!

It is amazing when our community liaison goes through the building on Friday and drops the totes off, the kids are so excited,” Taylor said. “We’re very grateful for this program — it’s had a big impact on our kids and families. The kids are more focused in class and they’re less worried about where their next meal is coming from. That’s absolutely crucial for these students.
— Grace Taylor - Principal of Northstar Elementary

2015 Year-In-Review

Dear Friends of Food for Hope,

The past year was filled with surreal moments as we met and surpassed our program goals for serving families in need.  We received our 501(c)3 status as an independent nonprofit entity in April, which allowed us to begin to pursue support from a larger range of resources.

Highlights include:

· Providing a total of 5,158 nutritious food bags to children and their families over the course of the year.

· We served 276 children and their families at five different elementary schools each week!

· Raising over $20,000 and organizing 200 volunteers to assemble and distribute Thanksgiving meal boxes and turkeys to 1,500 families in Adams County.

We are thrilled to announce that we will begin serving our SIXTH school in February of 2016.  The school was selected because it has the highest rate of need in the Adams 12 school district.  This addition will bring our weekly total of students and families served to 396!  We are also hoping to acquire a box truck this year to facilitate the transport of large amounts to food.  This purchase will ease the burden carried by our faithful and hardworking volunteers as they pick-up almost 2,000 pounds of food each week and then deliver the bags to our schools.  We also intend to feed our families for Thanksgiving again this year, expanding the number fed to close to 2,000!

Words are not sufficient to express gratitude for the support of our partners.  Their generosity and involvement is making a large impact on the next generation of the Metro North Denver community.   I am excited to see what the next year brings!
