our programs

  • Weekend Food Bags

Every week, volunteers meet to put together a bag full of nutritious food for each child enrolled in our elementary school program.  Bags include a vegetable (canned or fresh), a fruit (canned or fresh), whole grains, protein items, and 2 breakfasts/snacks. Volunteers deliver bags to participating schools on Thursday of each week, to be distributed before they leave for the weekend.

  • School Fuel

Students need snacks at school to maintain focus, keep their energy up, and find success in their classes. Many teachers have reported to us that they use personal finances to purchase extra snacks for their students who are not able to bring one from home. We created this program to provide school day snacks, and alleviate the financial burden from teachers who are providing this on their own.

  • Northglenn High Food Bank

This in-school food bank provides groceries for students in the school, as well as for any Adams 12 school district families who need extra nutritional support.

Volunteers, Callie & Tim Chelf, count bags for McElwain Elementary.

What We've Achieved

  • During the 2018, we distributed 15,275 bags of food to children and their families to fill the weekend hunger gap. Volunteers gave over 2,600 hours of their time to help us achieve our goals.

  • Our Feed 8000 Thanksgiving food distribution provided a full Thanksgiving meal to 1,700 families in Adams County. Over 400 volunteers came together to help distribute boxes and turkeys.

  • In August of 2019, Food for Hope opened its first in-school food bank at Northglenn High School. This location provides groceries for students, as well as any families in the Adams 12 school district who need nutritional support.

  • We are currently serving 10 elementary schools, with over 600 bags of nutritious food distributed each week!

  • Our "School Fuel" program that provides close to 1,000 high protein snacks per week to students at Thornton High School and Brighton High School for those who come to school hungry. We also provide snacks for underfed students at 4 different elementary schools.

  • Community Food Drives have provided a whole pantry full of nonperishable food items, but we always need more! Check out our Donate page for a full food list.

  • We are creating unity through engaging community businesses, organizations, and individuals as we address this issue together. See a list on our Partner Page!
