Denver 7: How food pantries at local schools are helping to feed families.

Food for Hope was thrilled to be interviewed by 7 News for the Food Bank of the Rockies, 7 Day to Help End Hunger story. Food for Hope is a Hunger Relief Partner of the Food Bank of the Rockies, purchasing about 80% of the food we distribute from them.

About 157,000 Colorado children are now experiencing food insecurity, an increase of roughly 30,000 in one year, according to Food Bank of the Rockies. School pantries like the one at Mapleton Public Schools in Adams County are helping fill the gap by offering free groceries to any family with an enrolled student. Food for Hope runs the Wolverine Den by stocking shelf stable and fresh foods and providing volunteers!
